Drive Commercial Success on Major Energy Infrastructure Projects as a Construction Subcontract Manager!
Our Client has a requirement for a Construction Subcontract Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in North West England.
Role Purpose:
- Lead the management, development and improvement of subcontract scopes across Mechanical, Buildings and E&I work packages throughout the engineering and development phases of major energy infrastructure projects.
- Provide commercial leadership and oversight to subcontract administration activities, ensuring effective contract management and project delivery.
- Support project success through robust change management, forecasting, subcontractor performance management and commercial close-out activities.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Lead the Subcontract Engineers/Administrators team.
- Ensure the procedure of Subcontract Administration is implemented and followed by Subcontractors.
- Initiate letters and notices to Subcontractors as needed and ensure that letters and notices from Subcontractors are appropriately replied to.
- Monitor Subcontractor performance.
- Review and validate progress payments submitted by Subcontractors.
- Provide support to the project management team in the identification of variations and/or claims with implications on project programme and forecasts, including delays and costs.
- Analyse Site Technical Queries, Site Instructions and Deviation Requests to determine cost impact and lead negotiations with Subcontractors for price alignment.
- Ensure that extra works, new unit prices, claims, back charges, liquidated damages and subcontract close-out activities are performed and processed in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Participate actively in change management and forecast analysis.
- Ensure the issuance of Completion Certificates.
- Ensure the regular updating of subcontract forecast analyses.
- Manage the commercial close-out of Subcontract Agreements.
- Ensure collection and sharing of lessons learned, feedback and construction-related returns of experience on issues and criticalities.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Previous experience within offshore facilities, industrial plants, or complex construction projects.
- Experience within the Oil & Gas or wider Energy sector is required.
- Candidates with some exposure to contract management activities will be considered.
- Strong understanding of subcontract administration and commercial management processes.
- Experience managing variations, claims, payments, forecasting and subcontract close-out activities.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractor relationships effectively.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills.
